Job description

About Applejack Hospitality and Our Venues

At Applejack Hospitality, we cherish the art of bringing people together to create unforgettable experiences that enrich Sydney’s vibrant culture. We pride ourselves on fostering a flourishing hospitality community, showcasing the immense talent and passion present throughout the city.

Our venues in Sydney’s CBD include:

  • Bopp & Tone: Capturing the essence of post-World War II elegance, this venue offers an ambiance of everyday luxury with a warm, inviting feel. It features an Australian-inspired menu highlighting honest, generous share plates influenced by Mediterranean cuisine, with dishes prepared predominantly on an in-house wood grill or charcoal oven.
  • Upcoming New Venue: Set to open soon in the heart of Sydney, this fresh European dining destination will deliver vibrant hospitality and an expertly curated wine selection. Expect bold flavors, lively atmosphere, and a wine list honoring Italian classics alongside outstanding Australian and European producers. Joining at this early stage provides a unique chance to help craft the team culture and guest journey.

Role Overview

As a Sommelier reporting directly to our Senior Sommelier, you will collaborate closely with restaurant teams to support stock management, elevate customer service, offer expert wine recommendations, manage a service section, and contribute to staff training and upskilling efforts.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a Sommelier or wine-centric position within high-end hospitality settings.

  • Comprehensive understanding of restaurant operations paired with solid food and beverage expertise.
  • Natural talent for creating memorable guest interactions through confident, engaging, and knowledgeable wine service.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a passion for hospitality, people, and excellent food and wine.
  • Flexibility to work shifts on a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.

  • Inclusive People-First Environment where everyone feels welcome.
  • Clear advancement pathways and paid professional development at every stage of your career.
  • Ongoing training in food and beverage led by industry experts.
  • Competitive tipping structure providing additional earnings.
  • Support for a healthy work-life balance through sustainable rostering.
  • Exclusive dining discounts across all Applejack venues.
  • Vibrant team culture with social events and celebrations for enjoyment and camaraderie.
