Solution Architect - Snowflake

About the Role

Join EY as a Snowflake Solution Architect and work at the cutting edge of data engineering and integration. This senior-level position focuses on designing and implementing cloud-based data and AI solutions utilizing the Snowflake platform and its related toolset ecosystem. You will architect solutions, develop data ingestion and transformation pipelines, design data models and products, and create user-friendly interfaces such as data visualizations and natural language tools. This role also includes mentoring junior team members and providing technical leadership.

While the primary workplace is in EY’s Wellington office, candidates from Auckland or Christchurch offices may also be considered. Flexible work arrangements and reduced hours can be discussed.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing Snowflake solution architectures aligned with client needs.
• Creating data models and building scalable pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
• Integrating Snowflake with other data ecosystem tools.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to translate data requirements into technical solutions.
• Providing leadership and mentoring to junior staff, encouraging continual learning and advancement.
• Keeping up with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering to maintain leading-edge expertise.

Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience implementing Snowflake platforms.
• Strong background in data platform architecture design patterns.
• Expertise in data modeling across various methodologies.
• Proficient in developing robust and scalable data pipelines.
• Advanced SQL query writing capabilities.
• Experience integrating Snowflake with data processing frameworks.
• Preferred: familiarity with Snowflake Horizon Catalog.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, and Scala is desirable.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills for complex data challenges.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• A proactive, collaborative attitude with a passion for data-driven business solutions.
• Experience in technical leadership or mentoring roles focused on junior team development.
