Solution Architect (Baseline)

Role Overview

A government client is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to contribute significantly to their application governance and strategic IT development efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

• Proactively assist in reviewing, creating, and maintaining application governance documents such as strategies, architecture frameworks, technology roadmaps, policies, and practices.
• Conduct focused evaluations of current application deployments, whether on-premises or cloud-based, analyzing documentation quality, sustainability, and adherence to governance standards.
• Compile detailed reports on findings including identifying risks, issues, and potential improvements, along with actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate directly with IT teams, business units, and development groups to aid in defining scope, budgets, planning, and implementation of new application-related services.
• Ensure consistent application of technical strategies, policies, security standards, and operational best practices.
• Assess proposed changes or deviations from original technical specifications, advising decision-makers and governance committees on suitable courses of action.
• Participate effectively as a member of Agile project/program teams or business-as-usual areas, as assigned.
• Carry out additional tasks as requested by leadership or their delegates.

Desirable Experience

• Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of ServiceNow platform implementations.
• Background in Government ICT transformation initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

• A minimum of five years' professional experience as a Solution (Application) Architect.
• Proven skills in designing application architectures tailored for cloud platforms.
• Track record of preparing application designs and documentation that satisfy business goals aligned with strategic organizational objectives.
• Strong communication capabilities, able to translate complex technical details into clear, plain language for diverse audiences.
• Ability to foster collaborative working relationships bridging technical and business disciplines.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with competency in risk management to deliver pragmatic application solutions.
• Active AGSVA Baseline security clearance and eligibility to obtain Negative Vetting 1 clearance.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Relevant tertiary degree or recognized certification in Information Management, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Experience executing large-scale ICT transformation projects/programs, ideally within the Commonwealth Government setting.
• Familiarity with Commonwealth Government ICT frameworks.
• Understanding and experience adopting Agile methodologies such as SCRUM, Kanban, or SAFe.
• Proven outcomes delivering solution architecture for ERP and ServiceNow solutions.
