About the Role
Hioki E.E. Corporation seeks an experienced Software Product Manager to lead the GENNECT series of software and applications. This role focuses on evolving software as a central element of Hioki's customer value in conjunction with their electrical measurement instruments.
The position involves crafting strategy, prioritizing developments, and actively collaborating with engineering, UX, marketing, and global teams including the headquarters in Japan to deliver superior software solutions that link instruments, data, workflows, and users.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the GENNECT software suite.
- Identify target users, use cases, core issues, and unique value propositions.
- Integrate future applications within the broader Hioki connected-instrument software ecosystem.
- Transform Hioki's hardware capabilities into software-supported workflows and services.
- Make strategic prioritization decisions regarding development focus and improvements.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of customer workflows around measurement, data management, and reporting.
- Engage with customers, engineers, and sales to uncover pain points and opportunities.
- Evaluate competitors’ software and anticipate evolving market demands.
- Convert insights into product priorities and quickly validate concepts before extensive development.
- Collaborate hands-on with engineering and UX/UI teams, creating user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
- Participate in architectural and technical debates, balancing trade-offs.
- Maintain quality standards for features pre-release.
- Lead Agile practices emphasizing iterative learning and agility.
- Incorporate AI tools daily to enhance research, analysis, prototyping, and product development processes.
- Identify meaningful AI integration points within GENNECT products to deliver value.
- Assume full business responsibility including defining launch metrics, working with marketing and sales for positioning, pricing, and adoption strategies.
- Monitor product performance, customer feedback, and commercial results post-launch.
- Manage full lifecycle including updates and eventual phase-out.
- Serve as liaison among customers, global teams, and Hioki’s Japan headquarters to ensure clear communication and alignment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Product Design, Business, or a related field.
- At least seven years of product management or similar product development experience focusing on software.
- Proven track record of managing products from inception to launch and ongoing enhancements.
- Strong product intuition and decisiveness in prioritization.
- Solid grasp of software development processes, particularly Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Technical competence to engage in architecture, APIs, cloud services, and data discussions with engineers.
- High UX awareness and capability to convey concepts using wireframes or prototypes.
- Analytical mindset focused on customer needs.
- Ability to clarify complex and ambiguous situations.
- Excellent communication skills across cultures and internal teams, Fluent in English.
- Experience collaborating with teams in Japan.
- Proficient user of contemporary AI technologies for research, writing, and prototyping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in industrial software, IoT, connected instruments, or data acquisition systems.
- Experience with professional or technical engineering software.
- Familiarity with B2B or enterprise software markets.
- Insight into manufacturing, energy, mobility, or maintenance sectors.
- Experience integrating software with physical hardware or instrumentation.
- Knowledge of design and AI prototyping tools such as Figma, Claude Code, Cursor, v0, or Replit.
