About the Team

The Cisco Common Platform Services (CCPS) group is dedicated to revolutionizing Cisco's software-as-a-service delivery by offering a modern, secure, and consistent platform globally. Our international team utilizes innovative techniques to manage hybrid cloud environments, focusing on platform management services by continuously optimizing infrastructure and operations for heightened efficiency and accuracy. Leveraging expertise in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) models along with reusable delivery frameworks, we enable fast and secure application deployment.

Within CCPS, the Cloud Software & Solutions (CSS) division specializes in designing and building OpenStack and Kubernetes platform solutions that prioritize quality, scalability, stability, simplicity, user experience, performance, and portability. We are seeking a Software Engineering Technical Leader to join our team and develop scalable cloud-native services and applications.

Role Impact and Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement foundational elements for the cloud-native ecosystem, emphasizing Kubernetes layers and core infrastructure.
  • Create and sustain automation tools and processes for Kubernetes cluster lifecycle tasks, including configuration and upgrades.
  • Enhance platform components addressing Kubernetes networking, storage, security, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate extensively with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), security, networking, and application teams to provide robust and scalable platform features.
  • Utilize AI-driven engineering tools to boost productivity, improve code quality, and facilitate troubleshooting.
  • Participate in rotation-based on-call duties, handle incident responses, and contribute to post-incident analyses to maintain platform stability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical expertise.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in software development or cloud/platform engineering roles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Go (Golang) programming language.
  • Direct experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native technology stacks.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of networking principles.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-resolution capabilities in large-scale technical environments.
  • Experience working with Infrastructure as Code and automation solutions such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with at least one major public cloud provider like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proven ability to leverage AI-based tools to enhance engineering workflows and quality.
  • Experience utilizing observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large-scale or multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters.
  • Knowledge of OpenStack within private or hybrid cloud settings.
  • Exposure to testing methodologies and adopting test-driven development.
  • Understanding of security scanning, vulnerability and compliance management standards such as SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and GDPR.
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), GitOps, or developer platform enablement methodologies.
