Role Overview

The Engineering Manager within the Lending team will serve as both a technical authority and people leader. This role entails supervision of design and delivery for systems used by client banks to facilitate loan origination, evaluation, servicing, including application processing, decision-making, repayments, redraws, and managing arrears.

Lending functions at a complex interface involving product intricacies, actual financial transactions, and stringent regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will ensure development of software that is inherently accurate, auditable, and robust, while nurturing a motivated and high-performing engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee career growth of engineering staff through ongoing feedback and mentorship; support hiring, onboarding, and training processes.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards promoting code quality and a culture of continuous advancement.
• Lead the technical vision for the lending platform, making critical architectural choices and managing feature implementation timelines.
• Own the correctness, reliability, and auditability of lending calculations, decision logic, and loan lifecycle events where inaccuracies could have financial and regulatory implications.
• Collaborate with product managers and senior engineers to shape the lending product roadmap aligned with company objectives and industry best practices.
• Work alongside risk, compliance, and operations departments to embed controls and evidentiary support within the platform architecture, avoiding after-the-fact solutions.
• Manage technical project delivery ensuring features meet deadlines and scope requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Proven leadership and mentorship experience managing software engineer teams.
• Robust technical expertise with hands-on background in building large-scale Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions.
• Comfortable overseeing systems demanding absolute accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.
• Strong collaborative skills enhancing team dynamics and company culture.
• Effective problem-solving abilities managing complex technical challenges and reactive programming concepts.
• Preferred: Experience with lending, mortgage, credit product origination, decisioning, servicing, or collection processes.
