Job description
Role Overview
The Research Engineering team plays a crucial role in advancing research ideas directly into scalable production systems. This team focuses on creating and maintaining robust pipelines that connect conceptual research to deployed solutions, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness throughout the process. Team members collaborate intensively with researchers, addressing challenges quickly through immediate feedback loops and thoughtful deployment strategies.
Key Responsibilities and Scope
- Develop and deploy production code using primarily Python and C++, selecting the appropriate tool based on performance and impact needs.
- Design and maintain data ingestion pipelines, feature discovery and storage solutions, model validation frameworks, experiment tracking tools, and custom algorithms.
- Collaborate closely with various teams to understand system interdependencies and anticipate integration challenges before they arise.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, identifying synergies and opportunities across different workstreams.
- Engage with research stakeholders across the organization to clarify their true needs beyond initial requests and deliver effective solutions.
- Maintain ownership and accountability of production systems by ensuring they are reliable, debuggable, and sustainable over time.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced writing production-quality software in both Python and C++.
- Curious and proactive about understanding the entire ecosystem of systems, not just assigned components.
- Flexible and pragmatic problem-solver who chooses the best tools rather than specializing narrowly.
- Strong collaborator comfortable working closely with research teams and other stakeholders.
- Proven track record of owning and supporting production systems through their lifecycle and maintenance phases.
