About the Role
Join HOTmaths Pty Ltd as a Software Engineer focused on developing the content platform powering educational resources utilized in classrooms across Australia and internationally. This role centers around building and enhancing the content management systems that facilitate the delivery of educational materials created in collaboration with Cambridge University Press & Assessment. The position is primarily front-end heavy using TypeScript and React, complemented by backend responsibilities involving content processing.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize the front-end components of the Payload CMS using TypeScript and React, providing the primary interface for content teams.
- Architect and implement support for new types of educational resources as the platform expands over time.
- Engage in backend tasks including parsing, processing, and converting various content formats into structured JSON for CMS consumption.
- Manage and manipulate complex educational content formats such as HTML, XML, and LaTeX.
- Collaborate directly with content providers like Cambridge University Press as well as with internal developers and QA teams.
- Participate in Agile methodologies featuring iterative releases and continuous product improvements.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of three years’ professional experience in software engineering.
- Strong expertise in TypeScript and React, as the role primarily involves extensive front-end development.
- Proven experience in constructing and sustaining large-scale web applications, beyond simple UI components.
- Backend capabilities sufficient to convert intricate data into structured JSON formats when necessary.
- Ability to interpret detailed technical requirements and translate them into maintainable software solutions.
- Effective communication skills, able to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Possession of a degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical industry experience.
- Willing and able to work on-site at the Port Melbourne office at least two days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in online publishing or educational technology sectors.
- Familiarity with XML, HTML, LaTeX, JavaScript, or Python programming languages.
- Broad knowledge across full-stack web development.
- Background working with content management systems.
Additional Details
This is a permanent, full-time hybrid position based in Port Melbourne, Victoria. The role offers a base salary ranging from $105,000 to $135,000 annually, depending on skills and experience, with additional bonuses and superannuation benefits. The working arrangement balances in-office collaboration (two days per week) with remote work flexibility to maximize productivity and team engagement.
