Role Summary and Responsibilities

• Maintain technical ownership of the product throughout its lifecycle: from initial concept, evaluation, design, development, deployment, to ongoing enhancement and quality assurance.
• Support software evaluation activities and recommend solutions tailored to Airtel’s specific requirements and deployment scenarios.
• Translate network needs of Airtel into precise device-level requirements for implementation.
• Monitor and diagnose network performance issues employing tools like Wireshark and other diagnostic utilities.
• Configure and manage network devices such as access points to ensure optimal functioning.
• Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate routine network management tasks and assist in data analysis.
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers on device testing and validation efforts.
• Operate within Linux environments to conduct scripting, log scrutiny, and network diagnostics.
• Document all network setup procedures, configuration details, and troubleshooting processes comprehensively.
• Engage in root cause investigations and resolve network-related problems efficiently.
• Keep abreast of new developments and trends in networking technologies and standards.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, or similar.
• Fundamental knowledge of networking principles including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, routing, switching, and VLANs.
• Experience or academic exposure to Wireshark for network packet capture and analysis.
• Proficiency in programming with Python, particularly for automating tasks and parsing data.
• Familiarity with Linux systems and basic shell scripting capabilities.
• Understanding of Wi-Fi technologies covering 802.11 standards, SSIDs, authentication, roaming, mesh networking, steering, and bandsteering.
• Competency in Wi-Fi troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Experience or understanding of OpenWRT operating system.
• Effective communication skills along with the ability to document technical information clearly.
• Knowledge of GPON and OMCI is advantageous.
• Familiarity with prplOS operating system is a plus.
• Understanding of TR181 and TR369 technical standards is desirable.

Preferred Background

• Prior internship or project experience in networking or telecommunications sectors.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA or other vendor-specific qualifications.
• Awareness of network security principles.
