About the Role
As a software engineer at Google, you will contribute to pioneering technologies that impact billions worldwide, going beyond traditional web search to innovate across areas like distributed systems, networking, AI, natural language processing, and mobile platforms. This role involves working primarily on important projects within Google’s Commerce team, focused on creating seamless shopping experiences within Google Pay that cater to a wide range of consumers and merchants.
Responsibilities
- Contribute extensively to the Flutter (Dart) codebase delivering smooth, cross-platform experiences for Google Pay users on Android and iOS.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and UX designers to develop new user-centric features.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams such as Google Shopping and Augmented Reality/Machine Learning to integrate AI/ML models into client applications.
- Enhance and iterate on Large Language Model prompts and AI infrastructure to boost the quality of conversational AI features.
- Perform both operational and qualitative evaluations of conversational AI and generative AI related to images and videos.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 1 year of professional experience in software development using programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
- Minimum 1 year experience working with data structures and algorithms.
- At least 1 year of experience in Android application development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical areas.
- Experience creating accessible technologies.
- Knowledge of backend programming languages like GOLang, Rust, or Java.
- Experience coding in Machine Learning environments using languages like Python.
