Software Engineer - Core Software Engineering (International Remote Role)

Overview

MEMX is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join its core development team focused on the MEMX trading platform. The role centers on the design, implementation, and maintenance of production-grade trading system software, with primary responsibility for US evening shift support covering Equities and Options platforms and key Market Tech clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle for the MEMX Trading Platform.
• Develop event-driven, low-latency, and high-throughput applications.
• Promptly diagnose and resolve software issues encountered in production environments.
• Provide primary support during the US evening shift from 10PM to 6AM EST.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum six years of experience in real-time server-side Java software engineering.
• Strong capability to independently multitask and manage multiple systems concurrently.
• Prior experience in developing software for US Equities, Options, or Futures asset classes.
• Proven expertise in designing and supporting low latency, high volume, high throughput Linux-based production systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and professional skills, including outstanding customer service, creative problem solving, and effective communication ability.
• Comprehensive systems understanding, recognizing interactions across internal and external functions and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success working autonomously in fast-paced, remote-first work environments.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of clearing, settlement, or back-office processes.
• Experience with event sourcing design patterns.
• Familiarity with time series databases, such as Deephaven.
• Understanding of TCP/IP and UDP networking protocols.
• Experience with FIX messaging standards.
• Proficiency in tools such as GIT, Gradle, JUnit, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Wireshark.
