Software Engineer (AI-Native)

Overview

Join a well-established Australian construction company based in Brisbane that uniquely creates its own software solutions rather than purchasing them. The engineering team has been restructured to embrace agentic coding methodologies, and the company seeks a Software Engineer who already thrives using this innovative approach and wants to collaborate with like-minded developers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver features from initial written requirements through to tested and deployed production code, utilizing Claude Code to plan, execute, and review work.
• Independently manage multi-file changes through agentic coding, thoroughly reviewing, testing, and taking responsibility for every line generated by the agent.
• Operate within a shared team environment adhering to standardized CLAUDE.md conventions, skills, hooks, and MCP integrations to maintain consistency and allow seamless collaboration on codebases.
• Follow a structured delivery cycle involving translating requirements into testable PRDs, splitting these into issues, and building autonomously with test-driven release gates.

Platform Development

• Design and implement serverless AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, and RDS/PostgreSQL, primarily using TypeScript and AWS CDK for infrastructure.
• Create and manage CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, ensuring automated testing gates releases.
• Develop web and mobile frontend applications using React and Flutter frameworks.
• Apply security best practices for AWS IAM, secrets management, SSO/Cognito authentication, and monitor applications via CloudWatch.

Candidate Profile

• Have at least 12 months experience delivering production-grade software.
• Use Claude Code or a similar agentic coding tool daily and fluently, not just for code completion but for planning, delegation, and comprehensive review of agent-generated code.
• Experience in configuring agents with codebase specific setups, including CLAUDE.md documentation, custom commands, skills, hooks, and MCP servers.
• Able to work effectively within a shared coding framework instead of personalized development environments.
• Exhibit strong code review discipline and testing proficiency to detect and correct agent errors.
• Proficient with TypeScript and AWS serverless technologies, including infrastructure as code through AWS CDK.
• Skilled in designing SQL/PostgreSQL schemas and managing database migrations.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies such as user story creation, estimation, and iterative delivery.
• Excellent written communication skills for crafting prompts, PRDs, and documentation that support agents and team collaboration.
• Experience with React or Flutter is advantageous.
• Demonstrate a grounded, approachable, and professional demeanor.
