Following a recent US$75 million Series C funding round, UpGuard is expanding its infrastructure to analyze 100 billion risk signals daily. The company designs the Cyber Risk Posture Management (CRPM) platform, combining security ratings, threat intelligence, and advanced AI, enabling organizations to proactively defend against evolving cyber threats.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. In this role, you will contribute across the entire technology stack, developing customer-facing features using React and TypeScript, building backend services in Go that handle security data at scale, and ensuring overall platform security and reliability. You will work closely with a senior engineer initially and progressively take on more responsibilities as you gain experience. Prior cybersecurity knowledge is not required but curiosity in the domain is encouraged.
Technical Environment
Our product engineering squads consist of engineers along with product managers, designers, and technical leads. Our technology stack includes React and TypeScript on the frontend, Go backend services utilizing Postgres databases, all orchestrated on Google Cloud Platform via Kubernetes. We leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor, with ongoing integration of large language models to enhance productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy customer-facing features across React frontend and Go backend services.
- Take ownership of well-defined tasks from design to deployment, collaborating with senior engineers for guidance and code reviews.
- Contribute to the scalability and stability of the platform as it expands.
- Participate actively in code reviews and technical discussions shaping development practices.
- Deepen understanding of cybersecurity concepts as part of professional growth.
- Advance towards senior engineering roles with increased scope under supportive management.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum two years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Proficient in TypeScript with solid React framework experience.
- Competent backend developer in at least one language, ideally Go.
- Experience working with relational databases, primarily Postgres.
- Comfortable using AI coding tools for software development and capable of critically evaluating their output.
- A pragmatic approach to balancing technical quality and business priorities.
- Demonstrates humility and commitment to delivering value to users, beyond just coding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cybersecurity or security-focused software development.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment, particularly on Google Cloud Platform.
