Software Development Manager - Books Purchase and Payment Experience

About the Role

Join the Amazon Books Purchase and Payments Experience team to revolutionize the purchasing journey of millions of readers globally. This leadership opportunity involves building and managing a team that delivers innovative and sophisticated software solutions, focusing on customer needs and creating products from the ground up. You will guide engineers who develop tier 1 services including agentic commerce, payment systems, basket building customer experience, retail ordering, and AWS infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• At least 5 years designing or architecting scalable, reliable software systems, including experience with design patterns.
• Minimum of 5 years managing engineering teams.
• Experience working closely with product and program management teams.
• Familiarity with the full software/hardware/network development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
• Experience working with or assessing artificial intelligence systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• Proven ability to communicate technical designs, software features, and product strategies to users, technical teams, and senior leadership.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineers to enhance their skills and productivity.
