Software Development Engineer

About the Role

Certum Ventures Pvt Ltd is seeking Full Stack Software Engineers to join their Kolkata office. This position involves developing new products using Next.js, NestJS, and PostgreSQL, maintaining existing web applications, and leveraging AI tools such as Claude for accelerated software development and testing. The role demands building and deploying complete web solutions while ensuring high-quality code and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end software solutions using Next.js for frontend, NestJS for backend APIs, and PostgreSQL as the database.
• Maintain and enhance current websites including MERN stack applications and WordPress sites by applying patches, updates, and performance improvements.
• Utilize AI-powered tools like Claude for code generation, debugging, testing, and digital design to accelerate development cycles.
• Manage source code with GitHub, handling branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews to uphold version control hygiene.
• Deploy and host applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Hostinger, and Railway and ensure their operational stability post-launch.
• Conduct rigorous quality assurance of third-party vendor code before approving for production deployment.
• Perform daily and weekly self-assessments of key performance indicators (KPIs) to track individual progress and productivity.

Skills and Technologies

• Proficiency in Next.js for frontend development.
• Strong backend skills using NestJS framework.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL databases.
• Ability to maintain MERN stack and WordPress websites.
• Familiarity with AI development tools like Claude for coding assistance.
• Competence with GitHub version control workflows.
• Experience deploying applications to AWS, Hostinger, or Railway cloud platforms.
• Advantageous: Experience with React Native or other mobile app development languages.
• Design sensibility for creating digitally-designed interfaces using AI tools is a plus.

Working Conditions

This is an on-site role based in Kolkata, requiring a five-day workweek and a 50-hour work schedule. Daily KPI check-ins and weekly reviews are mandatory to ensure steady progress and alignment with team goals.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary is a fixed monthly amount supplemented by a bonus based on timely delivery of projects. The bonus calculation depends on the accuracy and honesty of daily and weekly KPI self-assessments, providing a transparent reward system.
