Software Craftsperson / Typescript Developer II

About the Role

This opportunity is offered on behalf of a partner organisation seeking a Software Craftsperson with expertise in TypeScript to join their team based in the United Arab Emirates. This is a fully remote position ideal for an experienced software engineer with between three and six years of building scalable, production-ready software systems. The role demands comprehensive involvement across the full software development lifecycle including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of complex software projects, from initial design through to ongoing support and enhancements.
• Develop and sustain scalable backend infrastructure and APIs primarily leveraging TypeScript and sound software craftsmanship methodologies.
• Create production-quality features, balancing business needs, technical excellence, system performance, and long-term maintainability.
• Develop AI-driven applications and agentic workflows using advanced large language model technologies and AI toolsets.
• Utilize platforms such as OpenAI, Claude, and agentic frameworks to deliver reliable and useful AI experiences.
• Proactively identify technical and product-level risks beyond immediate responsibilities and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
• Enhance engineering quality via rigorous testing, code reviews, refactoring, tooling improvements, developer experience focus, and data-driven performance measurement.
• Work collaboratively with clients and team members to clarify requirements, set priorities, and ensure alignment with business outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continual learning and technical knowledge sharing.
• Apply AI-assisted development methods to accelerate and improve the software design, testing, and delivery processes.
• Build and integrate browser-based solutions including Chrome Extensions as required.
• Champion responsible engineering practices prioritizing quality, reliability, maintainability, and client satisfaction.

Requirements

• Between 3 to 6 years of proven professional experience in software engineering with demonstrable ownership of complex production systems.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript for developing production-level applications.
• Practical background in building AI-powered software and LLM-based agentic systems.
• Hands-on experience with major AI and LLM platforms such as OpenAI, Claude, or equivalents.
• Familiarity with Mastra or similar frameworks for LLM and agent orchestration.
• Experience developing or integrating browser extensions, especially Chrome Extensions.
• Deep understanding of Responsible AI principles including evaluation, reliability, safety, privacy, and ethical handling of AI outputs.
• Skill in leveraging AI tools to extend AI agents' abilities.
• Robust system design skills enabling development of scalable, modular, observable, and reliable systems.
• Commitment to best engineering practices such as Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration/Deployment, thorough code reviews, refactoring, and Agile or Extreme Programming methodologies.
• Good knowledge of REST and/or gRPC APIs, relational database systems, performance optimization, version control, and technical documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities coupled with strong ownership, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Ability to effectively engage with clients and global teams, proactively resolving issues.
• Python proficiency is advantageous, especially in production and AI/LLM contexts.
• Experience with technologies like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Agno, vector databases, AI evaluation/observability tools, Docker, Kubernetes, or Terraform is beneficial.
• Familiarity with React.js or modern front-end frameworks is a plus.
