Software Architect - Multi-Tenant SaaS Platform

About the Role

Responsive seeks a product-focused Software Architect with proven expertise in designing and scaling robust multi-tenant B2B SaaS applications. The role involves leading the architecture to ensure scalability, security, performance, and reliability of cloud-native systems, while exploring advanced technologies including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI, and cutting-edge search methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and continuously improve scalable, secure, and resilient multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Architect systems capable of handling increased customer bases, user load, workloads, and data growth without compromising performance.
• Define and enforce architecture standards for tenant isolation, secure access control, data protection, high availability, and fault tolerance.
• Provide technical leadership by conducting architecture reviews, guiding critical technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and setting engineering best practices.
• Create cloud-native architectures leveraging microservices, APIs, diverse databases, caching, messaging, and container technologies.
• Investigate and promote the integration of emerging technologies such as LLMs, RAG, Agentic AI, AI orchestration, semantic and vector search.
• Collaborate extensively with engineering, product, security, and infrastructure teams to align technical strategies with business objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
• At least 14 years of software development experience, including 5+ years in architecture or senior technical leadership positions.
• Proven background in building and scaling multi-tenant B2B SaaS or enterprise-level applications.

Technical Skills & Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of multi-tenant SaaS design principles, including tenant isolation, data segregation, authorization, and configuration management.
• Extensive experience with distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with backend system design expertise.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, understanding frontend architecture and integration with backend services.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, SQL/NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, messaging queues, and event-driven system architectures.
• Expertise in ensuring scalability, performance enhancement, high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery approaches.
• Robust understanding of application and cloud security concepts, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Operational knowledge of major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with observability tools encompassing monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing.
• Awareness and experience with LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Agentic AI, semantic and vector search, and AI orchestration frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, mentoring experience, and leadership qualities.

Preferred Experience

• Demonstrated capability to scale SaaS platforms for large-scale customer bases, user counts, and data sets.
• Leadership in major platform modernization efforts focused on scalability, security, or performance improvements.
• Development or architecture of AI-enhanced applications leveraging LLMs, RAG, or Agentic AI technologies.
• Design of globally distributed, highly available cloud platforms.
