Role Overview
The Social Science Teacher will be responsible for crafting and conducting engaging lessons in social studies for middle and higher secondary students in line with the school's curriculum and academic standards. Key activities include lesson plan creation, classroom instruction, assessment of student learning, feedback provision, and meticulous documentation of student progress. The teacher will foster an inclusive learning environment using varied teaching techniques and materials and will actively collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design and school events. Participation in parent-teacher conferences, support for extracurricular activities, and contribution to school programs aimed at deepening student insight into history, geography, civics, and related subjects are also expected. This position operates on a hybrid model based in Abu Dhabi, blending on-site teaching with work-from-home tasks such as planning, grading, and administrative duties.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Experience in teaching social studies/social science subjects to middle or secondary level students, with expertise in developmentally appropriate teaching methods.
- Capability in curriculum and lesson planning, including designing structured, results-oriented units and assessments.
- Excellent communication abilities for clear instruction, constructive student feedback, and effective engagement with students, families, and staff.
- Academic credentials including a bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Social Sciences, History, Geography, Political Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Familiarity with inclusive teaching strategies and classroom management that accommodate varied learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
- Proficiency with educational technology tools for delivering lessons, engaging learners, and maintaining records.
- Strong teamwork skills, adherence to professional ethical standards, and flexibility adapting to a hybrid work arrangement based in Abu Dhabi.
- Prior certification/licensure in teaching and experience with CBSE or comparable curricula are advantageous.
