Position Overview
We seek dependable and experienced Skilled Labourers for our Fort McMurray, Alberta project. Candidates should be prepared to work diligently, take ownership of their tasks, and consistently maintain a safe work environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wages as per CLAC standards
- Weekly pay on Fridays
- Company contributions to RRSP and pension plans
- Benefits eligibility after completing 300 work hours
- Paid training provided
- 10% vacation and statutory holiday pay based on regular earnings
- Overtime paid at 1.5x after 8 hours daily
Key Responsibilities
- Execute job duties adhering to OCL and industry standards and protocols
- Support skilled trades personnel as needed
- Safely use basic hand and power tools
- Conduct spotting and flagging tasks when directed
- Review and understand site-specific instructions before shifts
- Prepare and clean job sites
- Keep work areas organized and tidy
- Participate in daily safety meetings (toolbox talks)
- Engage in physically demanding tasks under various weather conditions
- Perform additional tasks when assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- Prior experience as a Skilled Labourer in industrial construction settings
- Competence in safely operating basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge of construction site safety protocols and hazard identification
- Physically capable of strenuous manual labor including lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in all weather
- Committed to fostering a safe work environment and effective teamwork
- Clear communication skills with ability to follow instructions accurately
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Required safety certifications: WHMIS 2015, CSTS 2020 (or equivalent); H2S Alive certification is advantageous
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
