Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) to join our Whanganui team. This role involves direct leadership of traffic management operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient temporary traffic control across maintenance and construction projects. The STMS will play a hands-on leadership role, guiding crews and managing traffic management activities onsite.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of temporary traffic management tasks.
• Validate traffic management plans (TMPs) and maintain ongoing compliance of work sites.
• Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and briefings for crews.
• Perform site inspections, audits, and prepare necessary documentation.
• Manage checks of plant, vehicles, and equipment used onsite.
• Coach and mentor Traffic Controllers and STMS trainees.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the public.
• Promote a robust safety culture and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Current STMS Qualification Level 1/2 or Category A/B.
• Full Class 2 Driver's Licence.
• Proven track record delivering temporary traffic management on active road corridors.
• In-depth knowledge of current TTM regulations and best practices.
• Experience independently leading crews and managing sites.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Commitment to maintaining Zero Harm and safety in all operations.
• Willingness to work shifts as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Completion of TTM Unit Standards 31958-31963.
• Experience managing unattended sites and complex temporary traffic management setups.
