Role Overview

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role blends software and systems engineering disciplines to maintain and develop high-performance, large-scale distributed infrastructure. You will engage deeply in the software development lifecycle of critical services, working collaboratively with product engineers to merge software coding with systems expertise. Your focus will be to ensure that TikTok Shop's services are dependable, fault-tolerant, scalable, and cost-efficient. Additionally, you will create software platforms and tools that enhance operational and engineering efficiencies at scale — particularly emphasizing improvements in observability, performance, and maintainability of systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver SRE solutions that address real-world TikTok Shop business needs, coordinating across teams, time zones, and regions.
• Contribute to building comprehensive disaster recovery solutions to guarantee service continuity during critical failure events.
• Drive continuous enhancements in stability, efficiency, security, and cost-effectiveness of TikTok Shop's core SRE capabilities, managing important operational metrics including incident recall rates, SLIs, MTTD, MTTR, and resource consumption.
• Lead the design and deployment of toolsets and platform solutions to advance the TikTok Shop infrastructure.
• Participate in on-call rotations to address performance or availability challenges promptly, reducing downtime to the minimum.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Programming, or related fields.
• At least five years of experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Go, or scripting languages like Shell or Python.
• Knowledge of e-commerce systems, common network and access layer faults, paired with related practical experience.
• Proven expertise in operation, deployment, ensuring high availability, and quality assurance of large distributed systems.
• Strong analytical skills, a sense of responsibility, and capability to troubleshoot complex problems effectively.
