About the Role
This position, based in Kilinto, Addis Ababa, requires managing the company's heavy-duty and medium vehicles focusing on fuel control, tire monitoring, and maintenance administration. The role plays a critical part in ensuring fleet operations align with legal and company standards.
Core Duties
- Ensure fleet activities adhere to applicable laws and regulations, including necessary inspections and permits.
- Oversee daily fleet operations enforcing safety rules and corporate policies.
- Lead and coach drivers to foster safety and operational productivity.
- Monitor mandatory training for drivers and track driving violations such as speeding and harsh driving behaviors via dashboards.
- Coordinate validation of drivers’ licenses with security personnel and track vehicles using GPS telematics.
- Manage vehicle maintenance schedules, ensuring timely servicing and repairs, and supervise vehicle handovers between drivers.
- Inspect truck tires weekly, ensure valid tags and monitor tire retreading processes, including data collection and reporting.
- Track trucks undergoing maintenance and ensure timely collection post-service.
- Assist transportation planners with daily order planning and monitor drivers’ journey plans and roadside breakdowns, collaborating on solutions.
- Conduct weekly fleet inspections, document condition and any deviations.
- Collect fleet invoices for repairs and services from vendors.
- Administer fuel management ensuring vehicles start and end trips with correct fuel amounts, reconcile consumption per trip, and report discrepancies for salary adjustments.
- Analyze vehicle performance and fuel data to produce actionable reports and participate in Daily Control System meetings with documentation updates.
- Contribute to enhancements in safety, processes and asset deployment within transportation planning.
- Provide comprehensive compliance and fuel consumption reports to Warehouse & Transport management.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental policies ensuring team well-being.
- Engage actively with team initiatives, personal development plans, and foster a customer-focused, collaborative working environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Two to four years of relevant fleet management experience.
- Proficient with MS Office suite and capable of ERP system usage for data management.
- Good knowledge of Ethiopian transport and insurance legislation.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret operational data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Understanding of supply chain, commercial operations, and advanced logistics tools.
- Capability to influence and maintain collaborative internal and external partnerships.
- Basic financial knowledge related to fleet operations.
Education
Minimum qualification: TVET Level 3 in Automotive Engineering or a related automotive field.
Additional Information
- Must be available 24/7 for emergencies.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as needed.
