Site Coordinator - Mooring Operations

About the Role

JS Marine Services Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a Site Supervisor to oversee mooring operations at Kamarajar Port, Chennai. This role involves supervising the mooring team to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely handling of vessels during berthing, unberthing, and shifting operations while adhering to safety protocols and operational guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mooring team throughout vessel mooring activities including berthing, unberthing, and shifting.
• Collaborate with port authorities, vessel crews, marine staff, and internal teams to facilitate seamless mooring workflows.
• Oversee the handling, positioning, securing, and upkeep of mooring equipment such as ropes, wires, shackles, bollards, and winches.
• Monitor operations enforce adherence to approved standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety standards.
• Conduct pre-operation safety briefings and ensure all team members utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assign tasks and manage manpower allocation based on operational needs.
• Inspect mooring gear regularly; report any damages or safety concerns immediately.
• Ensure compliance with port safety rules and marine safety regulations along with company policies.
• Coordinate response efforts in emergencies including equipment failure, rope issues, adverse weather, or other hazards.
• Maintain thorough records including daily operation logs, manpower attendance, equipment inspections, and incident reports.
• Train and mentor staff on safe working methods and proper equipment handling techniques.
• Identify potential risks and promptly implement corrective measures to avoid accidents or equipment damage.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the mooring worksite.
• Report operational challenges, safety issues, incidents, and manpower needs to management.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in mooring processes, safety, productivity, and team effectiveness.

Requirements

• B.Tech or B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Relevant experience of 2 to 5 years in marine, port, shipyard, industrial, or mechanical operations preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of mooring procedures and marine or port operational environments.
• Understanding of mechanical equipment and fundamental maintenance principles.
• Proven skills in team supervision and leadership.
• Strong communication and coordination abilities.
• Capability to work under pressure and in outdoor port conditions.
• Solid awareness of occupational health and safety standards.
• Willingness to work in shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office and daily report preparation is advantageous.
• Physically fit and suited to work in marine or port settings.

Compensation

This position offers a monthly salary ranging from ₹28,000 to ₹30,000, commensurate with experience and suitability.
