Edspired.Tech is a Bangalore-based private civil construction firm engaged in diverse infrastructure projects including high-rise residential and commercial buildings, industrial developments, railway ventures, and other civil works. Their projects span locations across Bangalore, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and other regions.
Role Summary
The Site Accountant will operate full-time on-site at various construction sites throughout South India, managing all site-specific financial and accounting responsibilities. This role demands physical presence at project locations and close collaboration with the Project Manager, Purchase and Store teams, as well as the Head Office Accounts Department.
Core Responsibilities
- Handle daily bookkeeping for construction site transactions, including receipts, payments, and journal entries.
- Maintain and reconcile cash book, petty cash, and bank records with proper supporting documentation for every expense.
- Compile detailed site expense reports on daily, weekly, and monthly bases.
- Review and validate vendor and subcontractor invoices against purchase and work orders, ensuring proper certification and payment processing.
- Track advances given to vendors, subcontractors, employees, and adjust outstanding balances accordingly.
- Maintain comprehensive accounts payable and receivable related to the project.
- Collaborate with Purchase and Stores departments to reconcile material receipts and purchase records, including verification of invoices, delivery challans, and GRNs.
- Support reconciliation of major materials such as cement and steel as necessary.
- Manage labour wage records, muster rolls, and related financial documentation in coordination with HR and site administration.
- Prepare monthly site accounts and coordinate with Head Office finance team adhering to deadlines.
- Assist with vendor ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliations for site accounts, and handle proper filing of financial documents.
- Ensure all financial transactions are authorized and documented in compliance with company procedures.
- Support GST invoicing requirements and TDS documentation for contractors and vendors.
- Provide required documents and assist during internal and statutory audits.
- Maintain accounts using Tally, ERP, or similar software platforms.
- Monitor expenses against budgets, report irregularities, and prepare cost and expense summaries for management.
- Adhere strictly to confidentiality and compliance standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong foundation in accounting principles and construction site accounting practices.
- Experienced in managing vendor and subcontractor billing processes.
- Proficient with petty cash, imprest funds, and associated controls.
- Working knowledge of GST, TDS, and relevant statutory compliance in construction.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and lookup functions.
- Competent in Tally Prime, Tally ERP, or comparable accounting software.
- Skilled in preparing reconciliations and detailed financial reports.
- Excellent documentation and organizational abilities.
- Capability to coordinate effectively with various stakeholders including suppliers, engineers, and finance teams.
- Ability to operate independently at remote project sites with high attention to detail and integrity.
Educational Requirements
A graduate degree in commerce (B.Com) or equivalent is mandatory. Proficiency in Tally Prime or ERP systems is required for daily operations. Familiarity with construction financial reporting standards and labor laws is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications in accounting software such as Tally or ERP systems.
- Prior experience with construction industry accounting, especially project costing, budget monitoring, and variance analysis.
Experience
Candidates should have between 3 to 7 years of experience in site accounting within construction or infrastructure sectors. Exceptional candidates with over five years of hands-on construction accounting experience may be considered even without formal qualifications.
