Shipment Control Officer

As a Shipment Control Officer (SCO), you will play a vital role in maintaining high-quality service standards by enforcing policies, monitoring security protocols, and managing shipment safety to improve customer satisfaction and operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Enforce strict security policies to safeguard DHL personnel, assets, and shipments.
• Ensure adherence to Aviation Security regulations and company procedures in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Investigate security incidents such as shipment loss, theft, property damage, or criminal acts, preparing detailed reports and recommendations in coordination with the National Security Manager.
• Maintain and manage the Security Incidents Database, analyzing data trends, and recommending corrective measures after consulting the Process Security Manager (PSM).
• Support TAPA audits by assisting the Security Manager to identify process gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of security equipment including CCTV, access controls, alarms, X-ray machinery, and fire safety systems, coordinating preventive maintenance with vendors.
• Implement the Destroy Shipment (DS) procedure according to GSOP guidelines, ensuring proper documentation including photographic records.
• Conduct quarterly access reviews to ensure appropriate and current access permissions, deleting records for former employees and backing up databases regularly.
• Perform on-route courier inspections to verify compliance with DHL's Vehicle Security Policy.
• Assist in route surveys for transportation of high-value goods to ensure safety during transit.
• Organize biannual fire evacuation drills, document observations, and follow up with corrective actions.
• Compile monthly reports detailing security incidents and investigations for review by the Security Manager.
• Maintain active communication and cooperation with local authorities for support and information exchange consistent with company policies.
• Monitor shipment exceptions such as missing scans, routing errors, shortages, damages, holds, or service risks and take timely action.
• Investigate shipment irregularities by gathering evidence including scans, weights, photographs, and handover records to determine root causes.
• Manage shipments on HOLD status securely when necessary.
• Escalate cases to relevant departments like Operations, Customer Service, Security, Dangerous Goods, IT, or Customs based on the nature and risk level of the incident.
• Document case resolutions and corrective actions thoroughly to ensure closure and accountability.

Qualifications and Profile

• Preferably hold a college diploma or degree.
• Certified training in fire safety.
• Diploma or certification in health and safety, including first aid.
• Experience in conducting investigations related to security or logistics.
• Background in the courier or express delivery industry is advantageous.
• Preferred to have GACA training in X-ray screening techniques.
