Position Overview
Manawatu Knitting Mills Ltd is seeking a skilled Shima Seiki Technician to join our active production team located in Palmerston North. This position demands a hands-on approach, collaborating closely with both production and technical teams to maintain our Shima Seiki knitting machines operating smoothly, reliably, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities and Role Details
- Provide expert maintenance, troubleshooting, and programming support for Shima Seiki knitting machinery, including WholeGarment and flat bed models.
- Offer practical training and mentoring to technicians and machine operators to enhance technical capabilities.
- Work alongside an established technical team, contributing specialist knowledge and assisting in optimizing machine performance.
- Diagnose and efficiently repair mechanical and technical faults.
- Engage directly on the factory floor, applying a solution-oriented approach to challenges.
Candidate Profile and Skills Required
- Proven substantial experience with Shima Seiki knitting machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in knitting machine programming and setup techniques.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team as well as work autonomously.
- Experience delivering training and mentoring to technical team members or machine operators.
- A practical, hands-on problem solving mindset.
