Shift Supervisor - Store# 04621, Thunder Bay Centre

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Shift Supervisor to support the store manager in running store activities during assigned shifts at Starbucks located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. As a leader on the floor, you will oversee partner assignments to foster the renowned Starbucks Experience through exceptional customer service, timely delivery of quality beverages and products, and ensuring the store environment remains clean and inviting. This role embodies Starbucks' core values and contributes to maintaining its reputation as an excellent workplace with passionate team members.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Embody honesty and integrity to uphold Starbucks' culture, mission, and core values.
• Maintain composure during busy or unexpected situations to keep operations running smoothly and model a positive attitude for the team.
• Stay alert to customer and operational cues to anticipate needs proactively.
• Relay relevant information to management to support creation of a welcoming "Third Place" atmosphere on each shift.
• Support onboarding and ongoing training of new partners by reinforcing successful behaviors and providing constructive, respectful coaching.
• Deliver feedback to store management about partner performance during shifts.
• Identify and communicate changes in team morale or performance to management to foster a supportive work environment.
• Create a positive learning environment by offering specific, timely, and respectful coaching to ensure operational excellence and partner development.
• Provide outstanding customer service with a customer-first mindset and build genuine connections with guests.
• Recognize and meet customer needs effectively during each shift.
• Build positive relationships with team members by understanding their motivations and concerns.
• Oversee daily store functions during assigned shifts, including organizing opening and closing procedures.
• Adhere to Starbucks’ policies and procedures regarding cash handling, safety, and security to protect all partners.
• Ensure shift team follows proper cash management and register protocols.
• Monitor baristas throughout the shift to ensure delivery of exceptional customer service.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Consistently prepare beverages, food, and whole bean coffee products to Starbucks’ recipe and presentation standards.
• Follow health, safety, and sanitation standards for all products.
• Recognize individual and team contributions using organizational tools and by collaborating with management to develop creative recognition methods.
• Use operational tools effectively to maintain high standards of shift performance.

Experience and Skills

• Experience in customer service within retail or restaurant sectors.
• Strong leadership skills, including directing team activities.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt effectively.
• Excellent verbal communication abilities.
• Understanding of the retail environment dynamics.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
