Role Overview
The SEO Director position is a full-time role based in Sydney with a hybrid work setup allowing partial remote work. The individual will lead the complete SEO strategy including technical aspects, on-page and off-page improvements, and content guidance to boost organic growth across various client accounts. Core duties involve managing keyword research, competitor and market analysis, site auditing, and tracking SEO performance while converting research into concrete optimization plans.
The role requires end-to-end oversight of SEO projects, collaborating with teams from content, performance marketing, data analysis, and creative sectors, as well as conveying strategic insights to clients and internal stakeholders. Additionally, the SEO Director will mentor SEO specialists, establish best practice standards, and continuously experiment with innovative techniques to maintain the agency's competitive edge in search optimization.
Required Skills and Experience
- Expertise in market research and analytical skills to comprehend audiences, competitors, and industry developments, transforming findings into impactful SEO tactics.
- Strong project management skills to effectively plan and prioritize multiple SEO initiatives across diverse clients and teams.
- Proficient in web analytics with hands-on experience in Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and comparable SEO tracking tools for campaign optimization.
- Comprehensive marketing knowledge, particularly in performance and growth marketing, understanding SEO's role within a multi-channel digital marketing approach.
- Established experience in senior SEO roles, preferably within agencies or fast-paced environments, with proven success in driving measurable organic growth.
- In-depth technical SEO skills encompassing site architecture, schema implementation, page speed improvements, and best practices for SEO-optimized development.
- Strong communication capabilities to explain complex SEO topics to both technical and non-technical audiences and confidently deliver strategic recommendations.
- Experience in leading and developing SEO teams including setting standards, defining workflows, and evaluating performance.
- Familiarity with SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or similar SEO and competitor analysis software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
