About the Role
As a Senior User Experience Researcher at Google, you will be instrumental in shaping industry-leading products by deeply understanding user needs. Joining a collaborative UX team, you will partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, and other cross-functional teams to deliver valuable insights that drive product usability and impact.
You will engage in diverse primary research efforts including field studies, surveys, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, usability testing, and log data analysis. This role offers growth opportunities within a supportive research community providing mentorship, regular gatherings, and access to proprietary internal tools.
The Google Play platform powers media and applications across devices and the web, creating a seamless ecosystem for millions of users. Your contributions will enhance not only the play experience but also the Android ecosystem by enabling developers and partners to connect with users effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute various research types (foundational, generative, evaluative) to uncover new opportunities and inform strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
- Utilize a rich blend of qualitative methods such as ethnographic observations, diary and contextual studies, usability tests, surveys, interviews, and heuristic analysis tailored to research goals.
- Work collaboratively with researchers, designers, engineers, product managers, and industry partners to define research scope and translate insights into actionable product concepts and strategic plans.
- Present research findings using engaging storytelling techniques, compelling visualizations, and immersive presentations aimed at diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least six years of applied research experience in product or academic settings.
- Preferred master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related discipline.
- Five or more years conducting UX research on products with experience engaging executive-level leadership (director level and above).
- Demonstrated aptitude for teamwork and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in a cooperative environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build productive relationships and align efforts with stakeholders and leadership.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to relay complex research results clearly and persuasively through written reports, presentations, and multimodal formats.
