Senior Urban Design Manager

About the Role

We seek a seasoned Senior Urban Design Manager to spearhead the visioning, concept formulation, and initial master planning phases of extensive urban development projects. This role suits a creative, innovative designer passionate about turning concepts into engaging urban environments that influence community dynamics.

Primary Responsibilities

• Direct the visioning, preliminary concept, and concept design phases for urban design and master planning tasks.
• Create forward-thinking masterplans, urban design strategies, and development concepts.
• Generate and assess sketches, diagrams, 3D models, and visual displays to clearly convey design ideas.
• Perform site analysis, benchmarking exercises, and feasibility evaluations to guide design decisions.
• Partner closely with architects, landscape architects, visualization experts, and development teams to deliver cohesive design solutions.
• Communicate design proposals and guidance to principal stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Support and mentor junior urban designers, contributing to their professional development and growth of the team.

Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
• Have between 10 to 12 or more years of experience in urban design and master planning, emphasizing concept design and visioning.
• Demonstrated history of working with leading international consultancy firms.
• Extensive experience within the GCC region, preferably in the UAE.
• High-level skills in SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and PowerPoint.
• Exceptional hand-sketching capabilities, visualization skills, graphic presentation expertise, and storytelling ability.
• Strong command of urban planning principles, site analysis techniques, and master planning processes.
• Knowledge or practiced application of GIS and data-centric design methods is highly beneficial.
• Proficiency in Arabic is considered advantageous.
