Job description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter specializing in Directors and Officers (D&O) insurance based in London, reporting directly to the Head of Commercial D&O. This role focuses on crafting tailored insurance solutions in collaboration with clients and brokers, cultivating new business relationships, and underwriting profitable new and renewal policies to achieve regional and global D&O targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite accounts strictly adhering to the D&O governance framework including underwriting authorities, guidelines, rules, and principles.
- Ensure contract certainty at the inception of all policies.
- Collaborate with various functions such as Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims, and Operations during the underwriting process.
- Handle referrals from other underwriters and re-underwrite complex cases as necessary.
- Participate in formulating and implementing the regional underwriter strategy for D&O.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, brokers, and other stakeholders like risk managers.
- Guarantee issuance of precise policy documentation either directly by the company or by producers as applicable.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum five years' experience as an underwriter, broker, or equivalent role within the D&O insurance sector.
- Possesses or is pursuing a CII qualification or an equivalent certification.
- Proven track record underwriting profitable large corporate international D&O insurance business.
- Well-established network and respected relationships with clients and brokers at the peer group level.
- In-depth knowledge of international and local D&O insurance markets as well as competitor dynamics.
- Ability to utilize data and analytics to optimize business processes and outcomes.
- Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory environment governing insurance contracts.
- Capable of designing, developing, and implementing consistent and robust contractual wordings.
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence and its potential business applications is required.
