Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Trader specializing in edible oils to manage the physical trading and strategic operations of various oil products including crude palm oil (CPO), RBD palm oil, RBD palm olein, and soft oils like RBD soybean oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, and corn oil. This role involves executing trades aligned with customer requirements either in bulk or containers and operating within a dynamic trading environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct physical trades of crude palm oil and palm oil derivatives, ensuring timely delivery to customers in bulk or container form.
- Manage physical trading of soft oils to destinations that match customer needs in bulk or container shipments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers both at the source and destination locations.
- Develop comprehensive trading strategies and identify arbitrage opportunities to maximize profitability.
- Implement hedging strategies through futures and swaps to control flat price and basis risk.
- Coordinate with risk management to oversee position limits effectively.
- Collaborate with credit and finance teams to manage counterparty credit exposure.
- Work with the sustainability team to qualify new suppliers ensuring alignment with company standards.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses 5 to 10 years of trading experience in edible oils, demonstrating a successful track record of positive profit and loss.
- Highly motivated, confident, and capable of thriving independently in a pure trading environment without asset or plantation backing.
- Extensive network of customers in regions including Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Africa along with solid knowledge of local daily edible oil prices.
- Additional advantage for those familiar with ex tank trading or domestic distribution channels.
- Deep understanding of edible oils market dynamics, supply and demand aspects at origin points.
- Knowledgeable about biofuels, feedstock, and the economics of waste in the sector.
- Familiarity with freight and logistics markets pertinent to edible oil trading.
- Strong team player who can collaborate effectively within diverse, multicultural environments.
- Exhibits a strong sense of ownership and accountability in fulfilling all job duties.
