Senior Test Equipment Engineer

About the Role

Micron Technology's Singapore Back End Manufacturing division is seeking a dynamic and motivated Senior Test Equipment Engineer to join the MSB Test Engineering team. The role focuses on enhancing test operations by developing monitoring frameworks, driving engineering performance improvements, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will actively engage in tester utilization optimization, new tester setup qualification, and leverage state-of-the-art data analytics, automation, and AI tools to boost engineering efficiency and equipment reliability. Additionally, a key part of the job involves mentoring team members to elevate their engineering skills and career growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive enhancements in test equipment availability through methods such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Potential Problem Analysis, and other continuous improvement efforts.
• Develop and manage spare parts inventory strategies to ensure cost-effective equipment availability and minimize downtime.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment performance, generating insightful reports and dashboards for management.
• Conduct engineering assessments to improve equipment efficiency, utilization, and capability.
• Automate data collection from test equipment to evaluate and reduce equipment-related yield losses.
• Apply data analytics and AI solutions to detect equipment degradation trends, enhancing maintenance strategies.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams and lead shift technicians to meet production output and quality targets.
• Oversee new tester setups, qualification processes, and coordination with logistics and facilities teams.
• Address and prioritize technical issues with cross-functional groups, aiming for root cause analysis and timely resolution.
• Support product runs, validate testing procedures, and manage equipment-related changes along with documentation upkeep.
• Utilize AI-assisted knowledge tools and data insights to expedite troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Lead projects focused on increasing test equipment efficiency and effectiveness, including software and automation development to monitor production floor performance.
• Review test plans regularly and identify opportunities for reducing test times on mature products.
• Curate training materials, deliver certification courses on failure analysis, document lessons learned, and manage formal feedback processes for direct reports.
• Encourage the adoption of automation, data analytics, and AI tools across the team to strengthen engineering competencies.
• Integrate AI-enabled tools responsibly in daily tasks to enhance efficiency and product quality while adhering to organizational and legal standards.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and sharing AI-driven enhancements within operational scope.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical & Electronics, Computer, Data Engineering, or related engineering fields.
• Desirable knowledge in Predictive Maintenance, Equipment Automation, Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing, or associated technologies.
• Experience or familiarity with data analytics, AI/ML applications, equipment health monitoring, and digital manufacturing solutions is advantageous.
• Proficiency in programming and analytics tools such as Python, C++, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI is highly regarded.
• Experience with automation technologies, system integration, and Microsoft Office productivity tools is beneficial.
• Hands-on background in equipment handling, manufacturing processes, and operational problem-solving, with an emphasis on enhancing equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities, and the capability to develop data-driven sustainable solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders.
