Role Overview
The Senior Technical Program Manager will partner with the Principal Engineer and program leadership to manage the technical scope, scheduling, and risk across a complex industrial automation program involving multiple packages. This position is a liaison between engineering and program management, ensuring progress against technical milestones, visibility of risks, and coordination of dependencies among vendors.
Key Duties
- Assist the Principal Engineer in monitoring technical scopes, deliverables, and inter-package dependencies.
- Maintain comprehensive technical schedules and RAID logs covering risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies for engineering outputs.
- Integrate technical input from various vendors and internal engineering leads into an overarching program perspective.
- Create detailed technical status reports and dashboards for internal and client evaluations.
- Help coordinate and follow progress on design reviews, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and other engineering milestones.
- Manage technical scope change processes, including impact assessments with engineering teams.
- Serve as a point of contact connecting engineering, procurement, and delivery departments.
- Assist in preparing and updating technical documentation and maintaining governance records.
- Coordinate interactions between client stakeholders—including engineering, IT, infrastructure, and digital transformation leaders—and vendor technical teams.
- Monitor timely supply chain delivery of materials to the shop floor, from suppliers to clients.
- Ensure program milestones are met within agreed timelines.
- Identify technical risks early and work with teams to develop mitigation plans.
- Lead technical meetings with client engineering teams to align on and implement recommended changes.
- Document and communicate all program assumptions, dependencies, and exclusions throughout the delivery process.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Over 10 years of demonstrated experience in technical program or project management within industrial automation, manufacturing, or systems integration contexts.
- Proven track record of implementing fully automated factories or multiple automated production lines involving painting, assembly, machining, packaging, etc.
- Strong grasp of the full engineering delivery lifecycle, including design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Experience managing and coordinating technical deliverables from multiple vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in robotics, control systems, or mechanical engineering.
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or digital manufacturing platforms.
- Experience supporting coordination of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) on large capital projects.
