Job description

Company Overview

Quo is revolutionizing communication for small businesses, which make up 99.9% of all companies but have historically had to choose between outdated enterprise phone systems or personal phones. This overlooked multi-billion dollar market has lacked efficient solutions to aid business growth. Quo offers an AI-powered platform that integrates calls, texts, and customer data into a seamless experience, setting a new benchmark for business-to-customer communication. Trusted by over 120,000 companies and rated #1 in customer satisfaction on G2, Quo is backed by leading investors including Y Combinator and Tiger Global.

Role Overview

As a Senior Technical Product Manager at Quo, you will own product direction for the Scale & Reliability and Platform Engineering teams, ensuring the platform infrastructure is fast, resilient, and reliable. Your role involves treating platform and infrastructure as a product focused on developer efficiency, minimizing infrastructure incidents and development risks. You will shape the roadmap, set priorities balancing velocity, cost, and reliability, and collaborate across engineering, product, and design teams to translate strategy into actionable, funded, and timely roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the business case for the Platform team, advocating priorities with executives and ensuring outcomes-driven roadmaps.
  • Manage reliability as a product discipline, implementing Service Level Objectives and platform health observability to decrease errors and incidents, while balancing speed and stability with peer PMs.
  • Plan capacity proactively and oversee the product aspects of incident management from postmortem to corrective action funding.
  • Define and maintain the internal developer platform roadmap including paved paths, shared services, and self-serve tools focused on boosting developer velocity and adoption.
  • Maintain real-time performance standards by keeping low latency and high media quality, where milliseconds impact product experience.
  • Monitor and act on critical metrics such as uptime, latency, incident load, adoption, and unit cost using data-informed judgment to guide decisions and communicate tradeoffs to product, engineering, and finance stakeholders.
  • Manage the Platform backlog intake and prioritization by balancing business demands, technical needs, and team bandwidth, coordinating with engineering leadership to plan and resource initiatives.
  • Identify and communicate risks early by detecting technical issues, capacity limits, and architectural weaknesses, escalating to leadership with actionable recommendations.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years in product management, with significant experience in technical, platform, or infrastructure-related roles or transitioning from engineering/SRE roles.
  • Strong technical understanding of distributed systems including architecture, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and large-scale system failure modes.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Service Level Objective frameworks, on-call responsibilities, and incident management in a large-scale service environment.
  • A product-minded approach to platforms, recognizing internal developers as users whose adoption must be earned.
  • Excellent collaboration with senior engineering staff, earning trust through clear communication and strong technical credibility.
  • Data-driven mindset focused on outcomes with the ability to identify the most critical metrics.
  • High ownership attitude, treating programs with full accountability to ensure their success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time systems, telephony, VoIP, CPaaS, messaging, or similar high-availability, latency-sensitive infrastructure sectors such as identity, security, payments, or streaming.
  • Background in establishing or scaling internal developer platforms.
  • Knowledge of cost and efficiency optimization at cloud scale.
  • Familiarity with compliance-driven delivery standards like SOC 2, HIPAA, FedRAMP, or ISO 27001.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers an annual base salary ranging from 166000 to 196000 CAD in Canada, supplemented by equity and comprehensive benefits. Individual salaries are determined by skill, experience, and education. Additional components include equity participation, extensive medical coverage, monthly lifestyle allowance, and flexible paid time off policies.

Work Culture and Values

Quo operates as a remote-first company emphasizing trust, autonomy, and prompt action. While building regional communities in select hub cities, it hires exceptional talent globally. The company values optimism, perseverance, and the willingness to tackle startup challenges. Diversity and inclusivity are core, fostering an environment where employees can bring their authentic selves to work regardless of background.
