Job Summary

As a Senior Technical Java Manager located in Bangalore at ITPL, you will lead backend product software development with responsibilities spanning from understanding product domains, mentoring developers and managing the complete software development lifecycle. The role balances technical expertise with managerial duties, requiring both hands-on coding and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end delivery of product software development, ensuring high-quality software outcomes from requirements gathering through to final code delivery.
• Gain deep understanding of product domain and software systems to provide effective technical mentorship to the software development team.
• Manage and guide a team of 7-10 software developers, ensuring both technical excellence and team collaboration.
• Engage in a techno-managerial role blending about 60% technical involvement with 40% managerial tasks.
• Define functional and design specifications, implementation strategies, and verification procedures according to project needs.
• Maintain strong communication channels with various stakeholders, including product end users and application engineering teams, to influence and align project goals.
• Apply expert knowledge of software development life cycles and utilize Agile methodologies effectively.
• Coordinate and collaborate with multi-site teams across different time zones efficiently.
• Exemplify a proactive and driven attitude in addressing challenges and achieving objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering with Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering background.
• Total professional experience ranging from 14 to 20 years.
• At least 2-3 years of experience managing people and teams.
• Minimum of 12 years in software development, including bug fixing, maintenance, continuous integration releases and handling complex systems.
• Over 10 years of development experience, preferably with Java (including hands-on knowledge of Java 8+ features and adherence to design standards).
• Minimum 2 years of involvement in high-level and low-level design, active participation in design and code reviews, and promoting coding best practices such as clean code and SOLID principles.
• Over 2 years experience working with large datasets and managing databases like MariaDB and PostgreSQL.

Preferred Skills

• At least 2 years of practical experience with cloud-native technologies, including containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Minimum 2 years engaged in architectural design and driving architectural decisions.
