Since its founding in 2011, the company has grown from a small team of eight to a robust group comprising Engineers, Artists, Animators, Designers, and Producers. They contribute to venerable gaming titles such as projects in the Minecraft universe, supporting Bungie's Destiny 2, Fallout 76 development, and unannounced intellectual properties. The position is based at their Burnaby, BC studio with hybrid work expectations of three days on-site weekly.
Role Overview
As a Senior Technical Artist focused on Unreal Engine 5, you will be a key contributor to the development of a co-development AAA title. Your primary responsibility will be creating comprehensive environment building pipelines and workflows to bring the game world to life visually and technically. This role involves pioneering procedural content generation solutions, utilizing LiDar, Gaea simulations, and custom tooling to maximize efficiency during rapid iteration. You will also handle optimization and editor tooling enhancement to improve performance for a vast game world, always ensuring alignment with the game's aesthetic direction.
Responsibilities
- Develop end-to-end environment pipelines and systems balancing visual fidelity with technical performance.
- Lead procedural content generation (PCG) initiatives, tackling performance and framework challenges using modern methods.
- Incorporate LiDar and Gaea simulations plus bespoke tools to evolve landscape workflows and automation, aiding agile content teams.
- Deploy best practices in content creation to enhance performance and optimization across a large-scale world.
- Create artist-friendly workflows, custom widgets, automations, and editor interface improvements to boost productivity.
Candidate Requirements
- 8 or more years of experience in AAA game development including at least one shipped major game title.
- Proven ability to empower teams by providing high-level technical leadership and guidance around procedural content generation strategies.
- Extensive expertise with Unreal Engine 5, Houdini software, and procedural content generation technologies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively articulate technical artist concepts and collaborate across disciplines.
- Skilled in optimization, performance tuning, and authoring editor tooling within the UE5 environment.
- Independent and adaptable worker with a capacity to thrive in fast-evolving production settings.
- Excellent visual judgment to ensure technical solutions consistently support the intended artistic vision.
- Proactive in identifying and solving complex issues as they arise.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Art capabilities spanning additional areas such as graphics, character pipeline, animation workflows, or related disciplines.
- Competence scripting and material design including Blueprints scripting, Python programming, HLSL, or C++.

- Base salary ranging from $100,000 to $155,000 determined by qualifications and experience.
