Role Overview
The Senior Staff Magnetics Engineer position at Enphase's R&D center in Christchurch focuses on spearheading the design and development of simulation tools for magnetics and power electronics utilized in their next-generation micro-inverters.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain advanced simulation tools to support the design of future micro-inverter products.
- Evaluate and interpret real-world circuit and magnetics performance to enhance simulation fidelity.
- Engineer high-frequency magnetic components optimized for mass production in micro-inverters.
- Conduct innovative research into novel magnetic materials and winding structures.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to hardware engineers in applying finite element analysis (FEA) and proprietary simulation methodologies.
Required Skills and Experience
- Degree (BE, BSc, Masters, or PhD) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field.
- At least ten years of experience developing products from initial concept through to commercialization.
- Proficiency with multiphysics FEA simulation software such as Comsol, Ansys, CST, FEMM, or similar tools for high-frequency magnetics design.
- Competence scripting and utilizing circuit simulation platforms, including Python and Spice.
- Experience designing power electronics, analog, or digital circuits.
- Knowledge of C programming or FPGA design is an advantageous asset.
