Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect with extensive knowledge in VMware technologies, infrastructure modernization, and AI platforms. This presales role involves partnering with sales and delivery teams to create cutting-edge solutions that handle data center modernization, virtualization, hybrid cloud, disaster recovery, and platform transformation. This includes architecting GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS), model inference, and fine-tuning capabilities integrated with Kubernetes and VMware ecosystems, focusing on resilience, security, and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Establish strategic relationships with client executives and technical teams, providing both business and technical counsel.
• Conduct workshops centered on VMware technologies, private cloud, hybrid clouds, AI platform strategies, and platform transformation.
• Design solutions utilising VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, NSX, VMware Aria Suite, Tanzu, and related technologies.
• Develop AI platform architectures supporting GPUaaS, model serving/inference, and tuning workloads with NVIDIA and AMD accelerators, orchestrated via Kubernetes.
• Implement AI serving and training stacks, including inference servers, MLOps tooling, GPU scheduling, multi-tenancy, model registries, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Integrate AI guardrails and governance mechanisms addressing policy enforcement, content safety, data protection, and compliance with relevant frameworks such as ISO/IEC 42001 and the EU AI Act.
• Design solutions emphasizing high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, GPU node failover, and continuity for stateful inference and data services.
• Ensure platform security through network micro-segmentation, confidential computing, encryption, secure supply chains, secrets management, and identity/access controls.
• Assess client requirements to develop infrastructures addressing both conventional and AI workloads aligned with business goals.
• Lead complex presales engagements, coordinating with SMEs, product teams, sales, and delivery units.
• Prepare comprehensive proposals, RFI/RFP responses, bids, and Statements of Work outlining customer needs, designs, scopes, and delivery plans.
• Offer expert guidance on VMware platforms, AI infrastructure, migration strategies, and hybrid cloud transitions.
• Identify customer buying signals and navigate obstacles to facilitate successful sales outcomes.
• Advise on infrastructure and AI platform operations, governance, cloud strategies, and digital transformation roadmaps.
• Estimate project efforts, resource needs, and delivery methods using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
• Maintain accurate sales pipeline, opportunity, and engagement records using Salesforce.
• Contribute to organizational knowledge through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership.
• Stay current with VMware, AI platform developments, and market trends.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline; or 10+ years relevant experience in presales, consulting, or solution architecture.
• Extensive experience with enterprise infrastructure and VMware solutions design.
• Strong understanding of data center and infrastructure modernization: virtualization, migration, consolidation, private and hybrid cloud adoption.
• Deep expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, vCenter, NSX, VMware Aria, and Tanzu.
• Practical knowledge of AI platform architecture above hypervisors, including GPUaaS provisioning, NVIDIA vGPU/MIG partitioning, and AMD Instinct accelerators.
• Familiarity with inference and fine-tuning stacks, MLOps tools (e.g., Triton, KServe, Ray, Kubeflow), and workload optimization.
• Strong Kubernetes and container platform skills, especially VMware Tanzu/TKG for orchestrating GPU-accelerated AI workloads.
• Understanding of AI governance: policy enforcement, content/prompt security, data protection, and compliance with standards like ISO/IEC 42001 and EU AI Act.
• Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise architecture covering compute, storage, networking, and security.
• Expertise in designing highly available, scalable, resilient, and secure virtualized and AI platforms.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and resilience solutions tailored to GPU and AI workloads.
• Expertise in platform security measures including micro-segmentation, confidential computing, encryption, secure supply chains, and identity/access management.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or VMware Aria Automation.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges in enterprise VMware, virtualization, hybrid cloud, or AI environments.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage complex customer negotiations.
• Up-to-date awareness of virtualization, cloud, AI infrastructure, and data center transformation trends.
• Experience with presales tools including Salesforce, proposal management, and project scoping.
• Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
