Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Technology Team and lead the design, development, and enhancement of core business-critical applications powering our XCover platform. The ideal candidate will bring strong backend expertise, primarily with Python and Django, and experience architecting scalable distributed systems. This role requires collaboration across Product, Infrastructure, and engineering teams to ensure delivery of performant, reliable, and secure features supporting our worldwide operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build robust, scalable software aligned with Core Services business objectives.
- Take full ownership of features and components, assuring compliance with business, performance, and security standards.
- Advocate and implement engineering best practices, code quality standards, and sound architectural principles.
- Mentor peers and foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Work closely with Product Managers and engineering colleagues to translate product vision into impactful technical solutions.
- Experiment with emerging technologies to improve application performance and developer efficiency.
- Enhance code quality and system dependability by increasing test coverage, monitoring, and managing technical debt.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering with at least 5 years of professional experience in building and maintaining large-scale web applications, preferably using Python and Django.
- Deep understanding of software design patterns, API development, and database optimization; experience with distributed, high-performance system design.
- Familiarity with modern development workflows including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code quality tools.
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS or GCP), infrastructure as code, and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of messaging systems, caching mechanisms, and resilient microservices architecture capable of managing high transaction volumes.
- Experience or interest in the insurtech or fintech sectors, especially platforms enabling embedded financial services or B2B integrations, is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in utilizing AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development cycles.
