Senior Software Engineer - Ruby on Rails

About the Role

Join Blackbaud India's dynamic team as a Senior Software Engineer focused on our Awards Management platform. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and enhancing web-based applications utilizing technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Elixir, and Phoenix. Collaborate within Agile Scrum teams to advance Blackbaud’s award management and stewardship capabilities, leveraging modern user interface frameworks, scalable server architectures, and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Consistently deliver clear, well-structured, and well-documented code aligned with biweekly sprint goals.
• Analyze and enhance the security and performance of critical software modules.
• Participate actively in weekly development meetings to discuss progress, goals, and coding best practices.
• Coordinate closely with product managers, scrum masters, and cross-functional partners, providing daily updates at standup meetings.
• Collaborate with solution architects to ensure system design complies with long-term architectural strategies.
• Complete assigned tasks comprehensively, including new features and maintenance activities.
• Mentor junior developers by reviewing code and offering constructive feedback to uphold high-quality standards.
• Submit code through pull requests for peer evaluation and further feedback.
• Conduct design and code reviews for vital application components.
• Author and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure codebase reliability.
• Deepen knowledge of effective software development methodologies and styles.
• Gain thorough understanding of the product domain and codebase to increase development efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of professional experience developing backend web applications, ideally using Ruby on Rails, Elixir, and Phoenix frameworks.
• Proficiency in essential web technologies including JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
• Hands-on experience in working with RESTful APIs and services.
• Solid understanding of scalable web application design principles and industry-standard development practices.
• Familiarity with cloud deployment and database systems such as Postgres, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Redis, AWS, and Docker.
• Competence with version control systems, particularly git, and continuous integration processes.
• Expertise in testing frameworks and automated test creation.
• Ability to operate effectively independently as well as collaboratively with software development teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to manage priorities efficiently.
