Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Harness based in Bengaluru, you will be integral to developing and maintaining high-quality software in a dynamic Java environment. Your contributions will directly impact a vast developer community by creating scalable backend solutions that enable fast and secure software releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, code, deploy, and support essential software components within a Java-driven setting.
• Prepare and maintain clear software functional specifications and design documentation.
• Master complex systems and codebases, managing key sections with a focus on delivered quality.
• Engage in agile development cycles emphasizing swift iteration and prompt user feedback.
• Create scalable and resilient backend software architectures.
• Troubleshoot challenging issues in distributed system environments.
• Conduct peer reviews for designs, specifications, and source code.
• Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers, DevOps, and cross-functional teams to deploy solutions and resolve production challenges.

Candidate Profile

• 3 to 5 years of experience building scalable distributed applications and backend services predominantly using Java and Golang.
• Passion for constructing solutions addressing intricate technical problems faced by users.
• Knowledge of relational databases including MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Bonus skills include expertise in SQL performance tuning, Elasticsearch or SOLR search technologies, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and containerization with Docker plus CI/CD workflows.
• Deep understanding of designing and deploying robust distributed software.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities.
• Experience working within rapid release cycles and with AI-augmented development tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude.
