About Magentus
Magentus aims to foster a healthier society through innovative technology by delivering intelligent workflows that integrate people, systems, and data to enhance efficiency and accessibility in healthcare. Their clinical systems support various specialties including pathology, radiology, oncology, and maternity care across Australia, the UK, and Europe.
Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to Gentu, Magentus's cloud platform used daily by thousands of specialists. This platform evolves continuously with user feedback rather than a fixed roadmap. Your contributions directly impact patient care and clinical workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop features that transform specialist practices, encompassing patient visit workflows to payment processing.
- Make crucial architectural choices for a cloud platform utilized by thousands of clinicians every day.
- Deliver production-ready code, including maintenance, debugging, and iterative improvements driven by real usage data.
- Participate actively in planning and decision-making processes about what and why to build, rather than simply executing assigned tasks.
Candidate Profile
We seek driven creators and builders who love tinkering and innovation, such as contributing to open source projects or personal side projects. Passion for continuous creation is encouraged.
- Proven experience in designing, building, and deploying production software.
- Practical expertise in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript/Node.js, React, and AWS.
- Strong foundation in engineering principles including CI/CD, testing, observability, and designing scalable systems.
- Confidence in challenging technical concepts and influencing architectural direction.
- Experience with AI-assisted development and AI agents.
- Desirable: background in healthcare or regulated industries.
Benefits
- Ownership of core platform features impacting thousands of specialist clinical workflows daily.
- Opportunity to work on a platform serving over 22,000 specialists across more than 5,000 practices.
- Flexible hybrid work arrangements anchored in Brisbane with full remote options.
- A team culture valuing honest technical feedback and high standards.
- Stable environment supported by a global health technology group while maintaining startup agility.
- Allocated time for open source contributions, side projects, and innovation every fortnight.
- Work-life balance supported through flexible work options.
- Professional growth through continuous learning and development opportunities.
- Inclusive and supportive team culture promoting broad experience across business functions.
- Engagement in purpose-driven work aimed at improving healthcare outcomes.
