Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will join the Integrations Team focusing on embedding Elastic products within the AI ecosystem. As AI assistants and agentic tools become primary platforms for developers, this role aims to ensure Elastic's presence is easily discoverable, seamlessly connectable, and user-friendly within these environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance the Elastic MCP server and its supporting infrastructure, primarily employing Go.
• Create and maintain a platform for universal agent skills, including formats for portability, authoring, publishing tools, and linting mechanisms to enable teams across Elastic to deliver cross-agent skills.
• Establish quality standards using evaluations to verify the functionality of skills and tools, rather than making assumptions.
• Design and implement integrations to embed Elastic within third-party AI ecosystems by collaborating closely with product teams and external partners.
• Enhance the Elastic CLI to improve developer productivity and agent interaction.
• Develop, maintain, and support a variety of libraries, tools, and integrations related to the Elastic Stack using multiple languages including Go and Rust.
• Incorporate product-oriented thinking by forming well-founded opinions on development priorities driven by the broader ecosystem perspective.

Required Qualifications

• At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, specifically working with backend systems, libraries, or services.
• Expertise with AI/ML frameworks and a practical understanding of large language models (LLMs), agents, agent skills, and protocols such as MCP, including a preference for evaluation-driven correctness assurance.
• Strong recent experience programming in Go; familiarity with additional programming languages is beneficial.
• Solid knowledge of client-server architectures, HTTP protocols, and RESTful web services.
• Aptitude for understanding and contributing to unfamiliar codebases and comfort with learning new programming languages.
• Awareness and application of software engineering best practices.
• Strong product mindset and the ability to prioritize features based on ecosystem needs.
• Focus on usability and delivering an exceptional developer experience.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic environment with frequent context switching.
• Genuine passion for technology and enthusiasm to explore diverse programming languages.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with experience engaging customers and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or managing infrastructure, plus an interest in telemetry and observability.
• Active involvement with technical communities through open source projects, blogging, or speaking engagements.
• Experience collaborating with third-party or partner engineering teams.
• Prior familiarity with Elastic products.

Compensation Details

The position receives a base salary only, ranging approximately from €87,300 to €138,100 EUR annually. Compensation is determined through a balanced evaluation of experience, skills, and role complexity with a focus on fairness and market competitiveness.
