Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer II focused on Confluent Cloud Platform—built upon Apache Kafka—you will contribute to creating a leading cloud-native PaaS for streaming data infrastructure. This platform helps customers deliver powerful streaming applications across the globe.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and sustain infrastructure services primarily in Golang, frequently implemented as Kubernetes operators, to support the Confluent cloud foundation within the engineering organization.
- Utilize tools like Terraform, Datadog, and Prometheus, alongside strong Linux, cloud, and networking expertise, with a core emphasis on Golang software development.
- Collaborate with the Confluent engineering team to develop and operate the cloud platform.
- Take ownership of system availability, performance monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning to ensure the stable operation of Confluent cloud services.
- Engage with designing and improving the architecture and operational aspects of large-scale streaming data systems spanning tens of thousands of instances.
Qualifications and Expertise
- Proven hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and networking concepts.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems design and software development.
- Background in building and managing large-scale, complex systems.
- Competent knowledge of system operations including storage, networks, and operating system fundamentals.
- Self-directed individual with strong teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in statically typed programming languages such as Go, Python, or C++.
- Familiarity with major public cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience in Golang development is particularly beneficial.
- Working knowledge or experience with Apache Kafka is a significant advantage.
