Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

This full-time hybrid position is based in Sydney, offering an opportunity to work on full stack development across customer-facing web applications and Node.js APIs using Next.js on the frontend and Koa/NestJS on the backend deployed on GCP GKE.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and advocate industry best practices and patterns to maintain consistency within the codebase.
• Apply application security principles to build a secure, privacy-focused platform.
• Own the complete service architecture, including data flows, orchestration, and backend services.
• Manage priorities and time effectively to meet deliverables.
• Demonstrate ownership and meticulous attention to detail in issue resolution and project delivery.
• Manage domain services end-to-end, covering database migrations, API contracts, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop high-quality, well-tested TypeScript code emphasizing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Contribute to internal shared libraries to encourage code modularity and reuse.
• Work alongside product managers and stakeholders to convert business needs into technical specifications.
• Engage in root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years proven experience writing TypeScript for both frontend and backend frameworks.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with partners, vendors, and third-party providers.
• Solid knowledge of relational database systems, including query writing and database schema/data model design.
• Proficiency with git and adherence to git hygiene to facilitate peer-reviewed pull requests.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fintech or regulated product environments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure, service deployment, and CI/CD processes using GCP Cloud Build or GitHub Actions.
• Hands-on experience deploying applications on cloud platforms following infrastructure-as-code best practices.
• Use of AI tools to improve developer productivity and experience, including spec-driven development and AI-assisted frameworks.
