Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our Platform Group in Dublin, Ireland. You will be responsible for designing and building core shared infrastructure components that support Semperis's enterprise security and identity solutions. This position requires both strong technical capabilities and excellent collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with product engineers, DevOps teams, and architects in defining platform standards and capabilities.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, reliable, and maintainable shared platform components utilized by multiple product teams.
• Architect distributed systems using microservices and event-driven designs suitable for enterprise-scale workloads.
• Own backend services end-to-end, overseeing code quality, tuning performance, and ensuring operational excellence.
• Work closely with architects, team leads, and stakeholders to align development and technical standards.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers through reviews, pair programming, and technical advice.
• Lead initiatives that boost developer productivity, improve system observability, and strengthen platform resilience.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and backend development best practices organization-wide.
• Analyze system metrics and data patterns to identify areas for optimization and guide future platform investments.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum seven years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development.
• Expertise in C# and .NET Core, including modern features and performance optimization techniques.
• Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Proven capabilities designing and deploying microservices architectures and event-driven systems at scale.
• Experience creating shared libraries, frameworks, or platform components that are used across multiple teams.
• Demonstrated ability developing enterprise SaaS applications for multi-tenant, high-volume environments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a history of working across teams to reach consensus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent background.
• Experience in technical leadership roles including mentoring and leading engineering initiatives.
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of Enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) technologies.
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with ElasticSearch or other distributed search and analytics platforms.
• Contributions to open-source projects or maintenance of shared component libraries.
• Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing systems.
• Understanding of API design and platform service governance.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
