Candidate Profile
- Possesses a forward-thinking attitude towards AI as a catalyst for increased productivity and embraces emerging AI tools to speed up delivery.
- Demonstrates solid expertise in computer science fundamentals and data engineering, experienced in handling complex cloud-based architectures at scale.
- Proficient in at least one object-oriented language (Python or Java preferred), SQL, and Spark (PySpark or Java Spark favored), with additional Hadoop knowledge considered advantageous.
- Maintains rigorous standards for data quality through architectural design and data quality frameworks that prevent failures.
- Experienced in collaborating across global teams providing technical direction and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of scalable, resilient data solutions underpinning AI/ML-powered personalization and assistive intelligence for over 220 million monthly active users.
- Design self-healing systems with AI-driven diagnostics to reduce manual interventions.
- Create and implement automated data governance frameworks ensuring compliance and data integrity at petabyte scale.
- Serve as the main technical interface between Dublin and US teams to synchronize strategies and architectural decisions.
- Integrate AI technologies to automate routine engineering tasks, replacing manual workflows and enhancing development efficiency.
- Optimize data pipelines focusing on cost-effectiveness, quality, and speed using automated testing and performance tuning.
- Apply sound engineering judgment to manage system complexity with an AI-first orientation addressing large-scale data challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Over eight years of experience in data engineering or large-scale data processing environments.
- Advanced proficiency in public cloud platforms; expertise in Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of big data frameworks for stream and batch processing along with data orchestration tools such as Composer or Airflow.
- Demonstrated use of AI coding assistants and large language models (LLMs) to accelerate software development and enhance system architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills to deliver innovative, scalable solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for technical influence across international, multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with email systems or platforms handling very high messaging volumes.
- Familiarity with DataProc, Dataflow, Composer, and Looker Studio for advanced data visualization.
- Master's degree in a related technical field.
