Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to collaborate closely with backend engineers, QA, design teams, and technical leads within your product stream. You will play a critical role in enhancing our technology stack and scalable platforms that support millions of active users across multiple countries.

Key Responsibilities

• Quickly develop an in-depth understanding of dubizzle's codebase and technology environment.
• Lead planning sessions for new functionality, crafting detailed deployment and rollback approaches.
• Stay current by researching and applying industry best practices.
• Develop unit tests following established standards to ensure code quality.
• Write and maintain high-quality code conforming to dubizzle's programming guidelines.
• Participate actively in resolving post-release maintenance issues.
• Decompose complex challenges into effective, impactful technical solutions.
• Improve reliability and performance of existing codebase, platforms, and core components.
• Shape technical strategies aligned with dubizzle’s vision within your engineering stream.
• Mentor peers in pair programming settings and oversee diverse project tasks.
• Perform thorough code reviews on major pull requests, establish programming standards, and give constructive input.
• Architect and implement multiple RESTful APIs; experience with service-oriented architectures is essential.
• Evaluate requirements critically and request clarifications when necessary.
• Manage end-to-end software development lifecycle processes.
• Lead product planning discussions and design technical solutions collaboratively.
• Coordinate closely with associated backend engineers, QA, designers, and Tech Leads.
• Share innovations and technical insights with cross-functional teams across the company.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science or Engineering.
• At least 6 years of professional experience in backend software engineering, especially with Python and Django frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, for infrastructure management.
• Experience working with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker is advantageous.
• Prior involvement with high-traffic, large-scale web applications preferred.
• Deep knowledge of web infrastructure, distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, performance optimization, and search technologies.
• Strong grasp of software design patterns, including asynchronous programming, job queuing, logging practices, security mechanisms, and data persistence.
• Expertise with caching technologies like memcached in various architectural layers.
• Solid understanding of build processes and continuous integration methodologies.
• Proficiency in multiple testing techniques including unit, component, and integration testing.
• Demonstrated ability to handle all phases of software development lifecycle with minimal oversight.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills conducive to a collaborative environment.
• Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt swiftly in a fast-evolving setting.
• Passion for learning and applying both emerging and established technologies.
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities with attention to detail.
