The Payments team is central to Grab’s user experience, responsible for crafting reliable mobile payment workflows including checkout, saved payment methods, and transaction security, directly affecting user conversion, trust, and platform expansion across various countries.

Role Summary

We seek a seasoned Android engineer passionate about delivering high-quality, scalable, and dependable mobile payment solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with product, design, backend, risk, and platform teams to create fast and secure payment experiences impacting millions of users.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Android features to advance Grab’s payment ecosystem.
• Ensure mobile solutions are robust, scalable, and resilient for critical user journeys.
• Enhance application performance, stability, monitoring, and code quality in payment flows.
• Work cross-functionally to convert product requirements into effective technical implementations.
• Lead architecture design, conduct code reviews, and uphold engineering best practices.
• Diagnose production issues promptly and contribute to operational excellence.
• Leverage data and experimentation to refine user experience and business results.
• Promote maintainable codebases and boost engineering team productivity.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 5 years professional experience developing Android applications in production environments.
• Expertise in Kotlin and contemporary Android development frameworks.
• Proven ability to build scalable mobile architectures and deliver user-facing features.
• Strong comprehension of Android performance, reliability, testing, debugging, and release methodologies.
• Experience integrating complex client-server interactions and backend services.
• Demonstrated capability to solve ambiguous challenges with pragmatic solutions.
• Excellent collaborative skills in multidisciplinary teams.
• Product-oriented mindset with commitment to delivering exceptional user experience.
• Background in payments, fintech, checkout systems, authentication, or related high-trust applications preferred.
• Familiarity with Android architecture components, Coroutines, Jetpack, and modern developer tools.
• Experience using experimentation, instrumentation, and data-driven product enhancement.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and mobile app security.
• Experience working at scale within consumer-facing technology firms.
